morning glory collection

attempt to meditate

sitting on the balcony
early morning sun
on my face
trying to focus on my body
I can't hear a thing
breathing in and out
sitting crossed legged
maybe 2 minutes
distracted by the birds
and deadheads on my petunias
attempt failed
but the peace on the balcony
the light violet blue petunias
the birds flitting about
was meditation enough
and much needed quiet
for the day

I found out

one month later
tears streaming
the times of feeling
left out of things
rise into my soul
and heart
one month later
I find out
you've had a child
we were friends
the 4 of us
no one told me
you tried, but it was
the wrong address
the wrong phone number
crossed lines
or no lines at all
I'm so far away
far from everyone
I ever knew
almost as if
I disappeared
