Damnit! Stupid Squirrels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is really dumb, but I'm upset. squirrels have attacked my sunflowers that have not even bloomed yet. sunflowers are my biggest joy at the end of summer. these came from seed that I planted in May. I woke up this morning to find 3 large ones bent over and one, not even bloomed yet, with the head taken off. UGHH!! I am so upset. I don't know what to do. the ones that are bent will still live and bloom. I'm just upset that there is nothing I can do about this, aside from standing guard in the early morning. mother nature is a bitch! I guess squirrels have to eat too. I just don't know what to do about it. :(

Monmouth Beach, Jersey Shore

what a fabulous day today on the Jersey Shore. Monmouth Beach was beautiful today. first visit there. the water was clean and the undertow strong. cool and beautiful. baby crabs and jelly fish abounded. I also saw some kind of small, stripped fish. life thrived. just one more reason to love summer!

hey, it's simple

simple again
want to get back to the simple stuff
the natural
trees, birds, water
floating in the water weightless
cold, not caring about anything but floating
I'm clean and carefree when I lay on my back
weightless and free
timeless and me

bombings in London

What a sad world we live in when terrorists feel they have to ruin and end innocent life. And it's usually all about religion. God bless the citizens of London, Great Britain and the rest of the world, for I feel in my heart that no such tragedy is willed by any god of any religion.
Coming into work, in to NYC, I definitely felt trepidation, and planned my route in to avoid trains that would go into specific targets. I work in a target building; MetLife Building above Grand Central Station. We had to evacuate the building once, during the RNC, because someone called in a suspicious package, that ended up being an abandoned pastrami sandwich. Fear was present in all of our hearts at the time nevertheless.
Sad a scary times.

Compared to what?

Compared to What
by Eugene McDanielsas performed by Les McCann

Love the lie and lie the love
Hangin' on, with a push and shove
Possession is the motivation that is hangin' up the God-damn nation Looks like we always end up in a rut (everybody now!)
Tryin' to make it real — compared to what?

Slaughterhouse is killin' hogs
Twisted children killin' frogs
Poor dumb rednecks rollin' logs
Tired old ladies kissin' dogs
Hate the human, love that stinking mutt (I can't stand it!)
Try to make it real — compared to what?

The President, he's got his war
Folks don't know just what it's for
Nobody gives us rhyme or reason
Have one doubt, they call it treason
We're chicken-feathers, all without one gut (God damn it!)
Tryin' to make it real — compared to what? (Sock it to me, now)

Church on Sunday, sleep and nod
Tryin' to duck the wrath of God
Preacher's fillin' us with fright
Tryin' to tell us what he thinks is right
He really got to be some kind of nut (I can't use it!)
Tryin' to make it real — compared to what?

Where's that bee and where's that honey?
Where's my God and where's my money
Unreal values, crass distortion
Unwed mothers need abortion
Kind of brings to mind ol' young King Tut (He did it now)
Tried to make it real — compared to what?!
