Memorial Day descending

the office is muggy, hot
the day starts to wane into late afternoon
soon, the skirts will come on
shoes and jewelry
books in bags
hooks and snags
fighting the good fight
into the work mode again
eleven days of joy
beautiful, heavenly river
deep sky and reigning mountain hills
ponds and bugs and swallows
to a lake
deep in some places, shallow here and there
lurking catfish under the dock
slimey turtle on the lake floor
the peaceful tranquil feeling
that water brings
may I carry it through
the coming days
